Posted: 20 Sep 2020 10:14 AM PDT Two of my switches flash the lights constantly. Only way I can get them to stop is by pulling the tab out on the switch. Think the switches are shot and need to be replaced? [link] [comments]

Mixing it up with lights and motion detectors Posted: 20 Sep 2020 06:22 AM PDT Hi all! I'm in a bit of a "anything goes" situation in my smart home setup. I've got google home minis, a philips hue hub, and philips hue bulbs mixed with some Trust bulbs, operating on zigbee as they're much cheaper and work well with philips. The time has come to buy some motion detectors so I don't have to yell "hey Google!" everytime I want to turn on some lights. I'm thinking of getting philips' motion sensors but, seeing as I'd need 3-5 of them, I'd like to save me some money, while still being able to keep my "tutti frutti" setup going. Any good suggestions would be appreciated :) [link] [comments]
Hello i need help whit a project Posted: 21 Sep 2020 12:56 AM PDT Hi i need smart power plug white ethernet i cant seem to find any in they are a lot whit WIFI but i need it to be ethernet i don't mind if it is DYI solution. I need to be able to turn on/off a power adapter so i can hard reset a computer i don't have physical access all the time , is it possible to do it whit Arduino + Ethenet shield ? or just Arduino and USB i can plug it in the Computer's USB, is there a whey to add Etehernet /Serial Connection to SonOFF I have found some smart PDU for RACK on the net but they are way too much of a overkill My problem is the PC sometimes freezes and i cant remotly reboot it (this kinda removes the USB options). The system require a full shutdown and boot not just Reboot to start again properly I don't wanna use WIFI couse i will have to bring a AP to the table but i have the PC + network Switch Thank you [link] [comments]

I'm looking for a software that can control my RGB led lights Posted: 20 Sep 2020 05:25 PM PDT So basically, I want to control my pc's RGB light strip connected to its 12v RGB header. I have an ASRock motherboard so I checked if ASRock Polychrome Sync was able to control them but it doesn't do what I want it to do. I want my RGB led lights to be synced and to flash to any internal sound on my pc, so if im playing a game, it would be changing colors and stuff to the sounds that are coming from my game. If I'm playing music on Spotify, the leds would change color to the music. I do not have any speakers, only headphones. So I want a software that can take the internal input sounds of my computer, and output them so the RGB light strip flashes to the sounds. [link] [comments]
Putting up LEDs in my Bedroom and I need some help Posted: 20 Sep 2020 08:58 PM PDT Hi, So the last LED set I had was some garbage product from China (99% of the led strip sets on amazon are the stock photo led strip products) which only lasted a few months before each led decided to pick its own color. I was wondering if anyone had advice for a LED strip set that is budget-friendly (decent-ok quality) and also if it is extendable (I want to have a LED on all 4 walls in my room; which was measured out to be 48 feet). Remote Momentary Switch Webhook Posted: 20 Sep 2020 01:58 PM PDT Many years ago, I installed 6 momentary switches, wired up with Cat5 cable going back to a central location, in the bathroom, with the idea of using the switches to control an audio device, so play, pause, vol up, vol down, source cycle or something. Also many many years ago, there was a home automation project using a protocol call XAP, and someone built a board called TOM10 which, if I remember correctly, sent XAP signals, based on a momentary switch and that is what I planned to use for audio control. Is there anything around these days that would trigger say a http post / webhook that IFTT (if you have the pro version) or home assistant would pick up and trigger an action based on a momentary switch? Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 20 Sep 2020 07:13 PM PDT Hi...I am currently using Home Assistant but have been reading up a bit on Homebridge. My primary use is to provide a gateway to Homekit for home automation accessories that are not supported by Homekit. Has anyone out there dabbled in both and if so, why did you choose one over the other? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Shopping for home security system for new home. Posted: 20 Sep 2020 01:02 PM PDT Shopping for a home security system that plays well with home assistant. We will have a ring door bell and that as far as I got. We have three entrances to the home not including the garage. Ha will be running on a vm in esxi Suggestions for a newbie. Edit: home is not pre-Wired. The house is a ranch. Server in the basement and Poe cat 6 will run up into the attic then down the wall to their needed location. [link] [comments]
Flashing Wyze v2 to use Xiaomi-Dafang hack Posted: 20 Sep 2020 12:45 PM PDT I have been trying to flash Xiaomi-Dafang https://github.com/EliasKotlyar/Xiaomi-Dafang-Hacks to my V2 and when I try to boot all I get is the following sequences of led lights yellow -> blue -> stays on yellow, pressing the reset button on boot does nothing and on the last yellow also nothing what can I do to get this camera flashed correctly. Also is this the best firmware to use? I looked at openipcam and it looked like it is no longer supported. Thanks [link] [comments]
using 2 motion sensors as a trigger Posted: 20 Sep 2020 08:17 AM PDT is it possible to create a trigger where the order of the sensors triggered is important? not either or both condition is met? i.e. putting up 2 motion sensors side by side, like if left triggers first then the second one it means i'm "arriving". if the second then first, it means i'm leaving. Looking for beta testers for my iOS MQTT app with Siri Shortcuts Posted: 20 Sep 2020 09:15 AM PDT TL;DR: I've spent the past few months working on an MQTT client app for iOS and finally feel like it's ready for release. I'm currently looking for some beta testers to join the Testflight group and get some feedback. I felt like iOS (or mobile in general) lacked a simple and easy to use MQTT client, so I decided to build my own. It started off with very limited features, but over time while using it with my own setup I kept adding new functionality. The most interesting feature is Siri Shortcuts support. It allows you to connect actions on your phone to your existing MQTT and Home Automation setup. With the new automation triggers in iOS 14, this opens up a lot of possibilities for automating things. It's also possible to trigger sending MQTT messages over Siri or manually run shortcuts over the Shortcuts widget. The app supports both iPhones as well as iPads (iOS 13+) with all the fancy things like split screen and Slide Over. I feel like the app has a lot of potential and I already have some ideas for new features I'd like to add. Some things I'm considering are adding a Watch app and I'd also like to check out the possibility of adding widgets for iOS 14. I'd be very interested to hear what sort of features people would like to see and will prioritise adding those based on the demand. As for pricing, I was considering making this a paid app but decided to make it free with an option to unlock more features via in-app purchase. If you'd like to join, open the Testflight link on your iPhone or iPad. Any in-app purchases are free for testing during the beta phase and you won't be charged for them. [link] [comments]
Smart plug with wifi, but no internet Posted: 20 Sep 2020 03:06 PM PDT Long story short, I occasionally have to reboot my cable modem to restore my internet access. Rather than trekking on the stairs or across the house, I'm thinking about plugging it into a smart plug I can turn off and on remotely. The obvious potential flaw: I only need to do this if my internet is down. Are there plugs which can do this reliably with only a wifi connection? Thanks for the help and apologies if this has been answered and I missed it. [link] [comments]
Feit Bulb Stopped Changing Color Posted: 20 Sep 2020 01:48 PM PDT I have a Feit bulb and Google Home Speaker in my child's room. Lately it will often go into a mode where color change commands do not work unless I manually go and change the color on my iPhone app first. Maybe it's a programming issue with the "Make a rainbow" command we recently found? Has anyone else seen this issue? [link] [comments]
Magic Home app connection problems Posted: 20 Sep 2020 09:04 AM PDT I've been using the Magic Home app for my led powered stuff and it's been working great but all of a sudden, the main LED strips stop connecting to the cloud and internet. Although my light bulbs have no problem connecting. I've factory reset the strips multiple times but every time I do it now it says "connection failed". I tried to do it on another phone and to my surprise it connected, but it's back to square one in where the cloud and internet are still offline. I really don't know what's the problem as my light bulbs seem fine, could the app be outdated to the new IOS update? Please any suggestion will be helpful. NOTE: Led strips are working fine, I can control them with the given controller any time. Just want it to connect so I can control it by phone [link] [comments]
Posted: 20 Sep 2020 09:01 AM PDT Hi all, Had a door replaced as part of reno and while I pulled the zwave sensor off the door forgot to snag the magnet off the frame before it was trashed. Anyone know a decent source for replacements? I could jury rig something but after the reno I'd like a nice smooth white magnet to blend into the frame. [link] [comments]
Pairing IKEA lights with ConBee or Hue, maintaining IKEA remote functionality? Posted: 20 Sep 2020 12:02 PM PDT Just starting with getting some basic automation going at my house, and have currently both the Hue bridge and a ConBee 2/deCONZ setup going while I choose with one to go with (IKEA gateway didn't work with my network for some reason). The thing I'm struggling with on both the Hue and the ConBee is to have the lights and stuff integrated in the hub, while they still can be controlled by the IKEA remotes. On the Hue, I've used Hue Essentials to pair the stuff with TouchLink, and it's a bit hit-and-miss. It often takes many tries to pair a light, and pairing the remote to the light often removes it from the automation system. But sometimes it works, and I actually managed to get all my current stuff to play nice. On the ConBee things are a bit smoother, but I have to fight getting some stuff to pair there as well. Right now, for example, I've got a on/off switch that refuses to go into pairing mode with a plug once the plug is paired with the ConBee. Another plug/switch works just fine. I've got a temperature bulb and a colour bulb with the IKEA round remotes, and these I can control both from the remote and Phoscon, except the temperature/colour that can only be controlled from Phoscon. Is there a "correct" way to get this things working or do you have to accept that the switches/remotes can be tricky or even not work as intended? [link] [comments] |
