Confused about Broadlink TC3 3Gang switch Posted: 02 May 2021 07:55 PM PDT Hey! I'm fairly new to all this but was checking out "BroadLink Smart Light Switch 3-Gang" which has 3 physical switches. I only currently have a single light switch in my office which controls the 4 can lights. I was hoping to have each of the 3 switches in the TC3 set different scenes ie. top switch turns lights on full brightness with white color, switch 2 is lights on set to pink or what have you. Is this possible or am I misunderstanding the capabilities of this switch. My confusion is that the lights would only be wired to the first switch so would pressing the other 2 be able to just run routines? I feel like it wouldn't work this way.. if so any recommendations on physical buttons to run routines? [link] [comments]
SmartThings Hub still needed or can I use Echo devices? Posted: 02 May 2021 07:45 PM PDT I use SmartThings v2 and was wondering is it still needed if I have Echo devices? Because the Sengled lights I have are seen and controlled by the Echo devices. [link] [comments]
why is the fibaro smart implant so confusing to use Posted: 02 May 2021 06:48 PM PDT Hey guys, I'm currently trying out the Fibaro Smart Implant Z-Wave device, but it's so confusing to the point where I'm about about to give up. I'm writing a program using the OpenZWave API, but I have no idea how to configure any of the Smart Implant's "advanced parameters" which are described in the user manual. Any advice would be much appreciated!!! [link] [comments]
is it okay to access hikvision camera thru ip? or is that dangerous? Posted: 02 May 2021 06:21 PM PDT hello, i have hikvision cameras at my home and the hikvision servers to access the camera remotely are absolutely horrendoes. there always slow and i always get disconnected or i cannot watch live footage or old footage. when i use my laptop locally and use the app or i use my phone locally and connect to the cameras via the 192 local ip address they are flawless and super fast. i was fiddling with the hikconnect app on my phone and i ended up adding the cameras with my router ip. i logged onto hik-connect on my pc and it showed the ip address of each camera, and the port and i put that in and its super fast. i think with this way, my phone is connected directly to the ip address of the modem and then directly to the cameras rather then to the hikconnect server first. is this ok to access my cameras this way or is it not safe? i dont know much about networking and im not sure how open my modem ip is to the public but just wondering if its easier to be hacked or dangerous this way? thx! Link pool light switch to Google Home Posted: 02 May 2021 05:14 PM PDT I have an RF pool light switch that I'd like to control via app and/or Google Home. https://imgur.com/a/V0MA9NS (switch in question) I don't even need Google Home integration if there is a cheapish switch that uses an easy app. [link] [comments]
Help. I need to control an IR device with voice commands on my phone. Posted: 02 May 2021 04:34 PM PDT I have an IR ceiling fan from an unusual brand (ventisol). Is there any way i can control it using the IR blaster on my phone? I have an app that can control it, but i can't use that app with voice commands easily. Any help is very much appreciated. Voice assistants controlling cameras - what/how do you use? Posted: 02 May 2021 03:09 AM PDT Hi, I've been slowing moving more and more of my smart home tech into HomeKit. For the moment, many things are cross platform but there are some cameras that are HomeKit only. This will be the first major purchase that I'm considering that isn't cross compatible with Alexa/GA. I've been trying the think of reasons I'd actually use the voice assistants to control the cameras but I can't think of many. Do you use voice assistants with your cameras and, if so, what do you do with them and how do you use them? I'd be super interested to hear any ideas and use cases. Thanks so much! Precise zigbee temperature sensor Posted: 02 May 2021 03:52 PM PDT Does anyone know of any zigbee air temperature sensors that will reliably report every 0.1 degree C change that they detect? I'm trying to control a particular heating system and I need good sensor linearity for that. For example I've read the Aqara temp sensor will publish only once an hour or every 0.5 degree change, and that's a bit too coarse for my project. Is there anything with a better reporting resolution? [link] [comments]
Handle for controlling nexa dimmer using hassio with RFXtrx integration Posted: 02 May 2021 03:18 AM PDT I want a more practical interface to control the brightness level of my Nexa dimmer (cmr-101). Atm I have a standard light card in lovelace and I need to drag a marker between 0 - 100%. Only the span 30 - 70% actually affects the brightness. Is it possible to for example map buttons to handles that change the brightness in a different way, like setting it to a prespecified value. Or any other metod? Nub here so all help and hints are welcome and greatly appreciated! [link] [comments]
Dahua VTO2211G or VTO2202F doorbell camera w/ SIP - local control Posted: 02 May 2021 12:59 PM PDT Dahua makes two models of doorbell cameras that are POE. Both have 2MP sensor with ONVIF for local control. The even do 2way talk via SIP, which opens up lots of features for intercom functions. I think the VTO2211G (plastic one) includes a RFID reader, where as the VTO2202F does not. I'm not very clear on the differences between the two. Reviews focus on one or the other, and don't really talk about how to do SIP integration or the RFID integration. Does anyone have this or seen some reviews that talk more about how integration works on these? I'm not really interested in using the Dahua app for obvious reasons. [link] [comments]
Leviton keeps disconnecting Google Home automation? Posted: 02 May 2021 12:59 PM PDT Put in a bunch of leviton switches throughout the house a few months ago and have it connected with Google. We have Google home hubs and minis in every room and use voice contro for the lightsl. It worked well initially, however every few weeks the system stops working and does not correct itself. We would say "hey google, turn xxxx light off/on" like normal, but would get an error message saying that Google isn't able to "reach leviton". The only way I have gotten the system to work again is to go into the Google home app and change the device type to something else and then back to light switch. This happens about every 2-3 weeks and I don't know what the cause is. It's a pain to deal with since we have about 15-20 leviton switches in the house. Has this happened to anyone else? Any fixes? automating blinders open/close Posted: 02 May 2021 06:18 AM PDT Hi! My new apartment has electric blinders that I can open/close with some controls on my walls: https://imgur.com/a/exG0ceG. It's unclear to me whether these are remote or wired controls. It feels like they are remotes, glued to the wall. But I see absolutely no sensor close to the blinders. I'd like to be able to control the blinders via Arduino/ESP. Do you have any pointers for me for this, please? Thank you! [link] [comments]
My robot vacuum collects about 1 dl of dust every day. Why so much? Posted: 02 May 2021 06:12 AM PDT I've had my Xiaomi Robot Vacuum Pro for about two weeks now, and been cleaning every day with it. After every cleanup there's about 1 deciliter of dust in the bin. Today I did two full cleanups in a row and I still got as much dust on the second round. Where does this dust come from? My apartment is 52m2 big with 3 carpets. I have just two days ago cleaned the carpets with a water vacuum to make sure they are extra clean, but I'm still getting so much dust! I live in Finland where the air is clean, and I have brand new filters in the air income holes. Also I just moved into this apartment a month ago, which was fully renovated before moving in, so everything is already clean here. [link] [comments] |
