    I just picked up Lutron Caseta dimmer plug from amazon, and wanted to set it up with Google. It seems like it works with zwave, but I don't have any experience with hubs. If I need a hub, is there a cheap one or how could I make one?

    LED light strip turns on 15 minutes after TV is off?

    Hey guys, I have a 55" Hisense Roku TV and I have a Monster LED smart light strip plugged into the usb socket. The Power settings on the TV are on Fast Start which is my idea of why it's doing that due to the TV ultimately being on standby for a few minutes and then into low power mode which confuses the light strip in a way thinking it's on due to the sudden change in current. I have no definitive answer so I thought I'd come here, do y'all have any other ideas as to why it's doing this?

    Sharptools

    Hello all, looking to use my fireHD tablet for my home automation hub. I really like fully kiosk but I am having issues with sharptools. Does sharptools only work with smarthings from samsung? Like, how do I add my Nest and gosund smart plugs, or any device thats not samsug?

    After waiting more than a month, I finally got my controllers from Aliexpress.

    As soon as I connected it to SmartLife App, it told me to do a firmware update to version 1.4.1.

    I pressed Okay and it did its work until near the end, the update connection timed out and left the controller flashing the strip slowly.

    After the firmware update failure, the controller is no longer online from the App and I can't get it to the pair mode anymore by doing on-off-on-off-on.

    Since I ordered two units, and these are relatively cheap, I took the risk and tried the firmware update on the other unit and the result was the same.

    There is no physical reset button both on the unit's casing and the PCB. All I could recognize there was what appeared to look much like an ESP chip.

    Is there any way I can get this out of this state or reflash the firmware via cable connection to PC?

    ESPHome with AHT10 temp sensor not updating reliably

    Hi all. Im getting some erratic behavior with a Wemos D1 mini and AHT10 temp sensor connected to Home Assistant. I get updates but unreliably and often spaced out 30-90 minutes apart. Can look at log output and the value for sensor just doesn't change when it should. Screenshot https://i.postimg.cc/6BcsjF7n/esphome.png

    Update interval for ESPHome is set to 60s

    Mortise lock suggestions

    I just moved into a renovated home and the previous owner had installed a mortise style Baldwin lock on the front door. I'd like to make it into a smart lock, however I'm seeing very limited options. Any suggestions from this community? Home Assistant integration would be great. Z-Wave Plus as well.

    I don't necessarily trust the cloud for a smart lock given it's an entry point to my home, although wifi is fine if no other options. In my last home I used a Schlage Z-Wave but that doesn't appear to be possible with a mortise style.

    Speaker/alarm for smarthome?

    Hi all, I'm looking for some kind of speaker that I can put outside that I can play some kind of custom sound outside , preferably that plugs in as a wall wart.

    The idea is that if my ring doorbell detects movement outside overnight then I want lights to be turned on and to play some kind of alarm noise outside to scare them off. (Been a spate of car burglaries in my area this past few weeks).

    Can't seem to find what I need , but the only thing I can think to use right now is buying another ring chime but then I'm restricted really to the predefined dog barking sound as I guess a door bell or some organ sounds aren't going to concern any would-be burglar.

    Thoughts?

    Panic Button is Holding down any of my KULED light switches (flashed with Tasmota) for a couple of seconds. A Tasmota rule sends an MQTT message to the flow starting off the fireworks.

    Are there any robot vacuums that don't require a minimum of 3ft on either side/6ft in front of dicking station in order to operate?

    Our kitchen is small so I was wondering if I could just charge it elsewhere then place it on the kitchen floor in order to operate.

    Is it possible to keep an old door/facade station for an intercom and put an internal phone of a different brand?

    If you love the design of the actual door bell intercom but the company has stopped producing intercoms can you keep the outdoor bit and replace the buzzer/phone inside the house with one from another brand?

    Smart plugs for pool pump motors

    I know there are a few heavy-duty smart switches out there, but I need something that can reach farther outside my home. I've got foil-faced sheathing, and I know the wifi is weak near my pump. I considered powerline ethernet to wifi AP to smart plug, but that feels like too much build up for one switch. Other than X10, is there something out there that's wired-only that could be on the end of a low-speed powerline kit? I don't need more than two outlets, and could make due with only one max 20A (startup).

    Hi All-- Finally found the money to upgrade our old TV-- planning on wall mounting it this time and replacing our old TV stand.

    Does anybody know of a Google Home or HA compatible electric fireplace? I'd love to be able to add it to my routines to turn on the fireplace, while turning off lights, etc etc.

    I've recently switched from the OpenZWave built in to the OpenZWave Beta in Hime Assistant. It's been fantastic. I've got a few aging devices missing from the database which I plan on adding hopefully over the holidays.

    I also became fascinated by the OZW Admin application. I'm not a developer but tinker on a number of projects in various languages. I thought a good project would be to write the OZW Admin in python or node/js. After looking at the code I'm not sure how websockets are used in the daemon. When my code connects (and accepts the protocol and auth) I get two buffer messages back and that's it.

    I've looked all over but here is no docs on what should happen after that. Does OZW Admin use the websocket to get info on where to subscribe to MQTT?

    I apologize if this is a bad place to ask but the project itself seems convoluted. I'll gladly remove this and post in a more appropriate location. TIA.
