CbyGE Find this light finds same light for all my bulbs

    Posted: 12 May 2021 06:42 PM PDT

So i have two Direct connect full color CbyGE bulbs that are on the same lamp that can turn bulbs on/off separately. Currently I have it set to have both bulbs on.

Now, I can control the lights separately perfectly fine. But when I click on find this light for either bulb it always finds the same bulb. IE, i find light 1 it blinks light 1. If i find light 2 it will then blink light 1.

Why are they finding the wrong light?

I have updated the firmware, and i have factory reset both lights and the problem persists.

    Swapping Led-driver

    Posted: 12 May 2021 06:34 AM PDT

Hi, i want to replace the led driver in my bathroom mirror so that i can automate it. However im a novice in electronics so im wondering if you guys think it would would work.

See following images, the first one is the current driver in an ikea cabinet that drives 2 led strips/lights. The second is and image of and Ikea trådfri driver. My wish is to replace the standard one with the Ikea trådfri. However there are some differences. The biggest to me is the 12W vs 10W. How does leds work, will it be damaging to the Leds or will they just be weaker? And does the amperage matter? Is there any risk in just testing it?

    Thanks in advance

WiZ Matter support for current products?

    Posted: 12 May 2021 10:32 AM PDT

Signify has released a statement about supporting Matter (formerly Project CHIP) in all the new WiZ products, but it's not really clear if existing products will be upgradeable.

    https://www.signify.com/global/our-company/news/press-releases/2021/20210512-wiz-among-first-smart-lighting-players-to-adopt-industry-unifying-technology-matter

The most recent bulbs have both WiFi and Bluetooth, so technically they should be capable, it's just changing the API.

Help with a Bissell spinwave 2 in 1 robot?

    Posted: 12 May 2021 12:02 PM PDT

I've been trying to automate my home and purchased a bissell spinwave, at first it worked great for mopping but now its not putting down water and if I just leave it running it builds up pressure in the tank, when I open the cap on the water tank the cap almost shoots off. Anybody know what could be the problem?

    Multiple switches one/two lights

    Posted: 12 May 2021 01:49 PM PDT

Hello! I have been slowly replacing my old light switches with new ones. So far I have successfully connected them to tuya switches. Now I am faced with a problem I cannot seem to solve- i have a single light in the bedroom connected to three switches-what kind of switch do i need?

And additionally-is it the same in a similar situation when I have two connected lights?

    Thanks in advance!

Currently, I have a GH routine that turns on my Philips hue lights at a set time. Using a hue sensor, can GH set the lights to on at 4 pm, but from 9 pm the lights only stay on if the sensor is activated? i.e. is it possible to only have the sensor work at set times? Thanks

How to fix upload buffer miscompare when upgrading from Tasmota to ESPHome via OTA

    Posted: 12 May 2021 08:32 AM PDT

I saw a few people having the same problem when trying to do that. The problem isn't the new version, it's the size of the firmware. The easy trick to make space is to first upgrade to the tasmota-minimal.bin.gz from the OTA server. When the restart is done you should be able to OTA-Flash ESPHome with no problems :)

    Faac cks 400 won't open

    Posted: 12 May 2021 11:48 AM PDT

Installed 2 weeks ago, now it does not open. The installer tried to invert the motor and in that case it won't close. It looks like the logic is not able to give the right inverted impulse. No error appears. Tried resetting but nothing. Any idea?

tuya smart lights schedule when away from home

    Posted: 12 May 2021 09:15 AM PDT

I've set up a schedule for some lights at home, to turn on at sunset. I'm a skinflint about how I use my phone: I have no data plan (pay as you go, i.e., per minute) so it's only connected to the internet when I'm at home.

According to what I've read from the Tuya site the phone is what implements the schedule and the schedule won't run if my phone doesn't have internet.

So I've also installed the Tuya app on my tablet, which stays at home. Will that also turn the lights on and off when I'm not at home?

Need ideas to replace cat5e powered intercom with a non-intercom smart home application

    Posted: 12 May 2021 09:13 AM PDT

I have an On-Q insight intercom system that no longer works and I plan to use Echo dots as an intercom going forward. But I have all these cat 5e runs in the walls running to 2 and 3 gang boxes at a light switch height. I'd hate to just cover them with blanks.

So I am looking for suggestions on a good smart home application for these locations. I have one in the master bedroom and one on each floor of the house. I am re-purposing the door unit to power a video doorbell, but don't know what I could use the interior units for.

How do I turn ring camera motion notifications on only for when ring alarm is in armed away mode?

    Posted: 12 May 2021 12:43 AM PDT

We have a dog and my girlfriend worries about leaving her at home alone as there have been dog thefts in our area. I have set up a ring alarm, a doorbell camera, battery stick up cam and wired stick up cam. The notifications drive us mad when we are home so I turned them off, but we would like to be notified of motion picked up on the cameras when we are away from home, so if our dog is home we have peace of mind that we can check any motion, although it's 99 percent likely that it's nothing to worry about. I also have an Alexa. I can't figure it out, any help would be really appreciated! Thanks.

    sensing a remote motor running

    Posted: 12 May 2021 07:45 AM PDT

Not sure if this is the right sub. If you know a better one, please let me know.

Here's what I'm looking for: a small LED indicator that lights up wirelessly when a remote motor is running. I'm sure that such a thing exists for a few bucks, but I'm not sure how to search for it, since I keep coming up with wireless light switches. Not what I want.

Here's the scenario: I have a booster fan in a vent duct in the basement. I have a wireless (LoRa, I think, at least it's in the name of the item) switch to turn on the fan. All well and good. However, I'd like a little light to let me know that the booster fan is still running, so I don't leave it on continuously. The distance is only a few feet; one floor separates the motor from the remote wireless switch.

Alternatively, a timer that resets itself each time the fan is activated. So that when I start the fan remotely, the timer will auto shut it off after, say 1 hour, but it needs to reset itself when the remote switch is turned on again.

Needless to say, I'm looking for an inexpensive solution to this.

CHIP is now known as Matter?

    Posted: 12 May 2021 06:16 AM PDT

    https://betterhomenews.com/2021/05/11/project-chip-smart-home-network-standard-renamed-matter-engadget/

While the CHIP name raised some eyebrows and led to some confusion when used to describe the tech, I can't say that Matter is any better. How mundane a name to describe the tech the is prophesied to bring balance to the smart home.

Considering there are no shipping products yet and, if that continues to hold true then, I guess the name won't really matter.
