Posted: 21 May 2021 11:59 PM PDT Hey guys Looking for a dog door that has the following functionality I am struggling to find a proper solution for this, anyone got ideas/links? Even if its DIY with Rasberry Pi and Home Assitant, willing to consider it. [link] [comments]
MIMOlite alternatives for smartthings? Posted: 21 May 2021 07:48 PM PDT I recently installed a Liftmaster gate opener and I wanted to integrate it to my Smartthings network. I dearly I want to trigger the open/close signal and also know the open/closed state of the gate. I found out about the MIMOlite and seemed like a perfect solution, but! Apparently it is no longer supported by the new version of smartthings... I never even had the first version, so it looks like its out of the question. Anyway, I'm looking for an alternative option that can trigger a relay, report the state of a sensor and work with Smartthings. I dont care if it's Zigbee or Zwave. I've been looking around but I've only found networked relays without the sensor option. Any ideas/suggestions? [link] [comments]

Sengled Door sensors - factory reset Posted: 21 May 2021 09:56 PM PDT Anyone know how to get the Sengled door sensors back into pairing mode? I tried holding the reset button for 8 (and more) seconds, replacing batteries, power on with reset button depressed, and still not happening. Followed these directions: https://support.sengled.com/hc/en-us/articles/360024362854-How-do-I-reset-the-Sengled-Smart-Sensor- I know the sensors work as they were connected to a Sengled hub. Trying to move them to an Aeotec SmartThings hub and no dice. [link] [comments]
Tuya Smart Air Box issue, with PCB pics Posted: 21 May 2021 08:06 PM PDT Picked up a Smart Air Box for the VOC sensor. While temp, humidity, and CO2 appear to work just fine, the VOC and Formaldehyde sensors report only 0. I've added it to Home Assistant via Local Tuya and graphs show occasional error values (like an hour of zeros will have 3 or 4 recordings of a VOC of 9 for one update) Shipper has already refunded my money, but it took over a month to get here in the first place. Does anyone see anything wrong that could be fixed? Also, with that Tuya XR3 module, does that rule out Tasmota or ESPhome. I can't find any information on it. [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 May 2021 05:17 AM PDT We recently moved to a west facing house. While I love having natural light in the house, especially late in the day the amount of light and heat just gets to be too much. My solve is that I just always keep the blinds closed (because I'm lazy) but that's not what I really want. We tend to buy more cost effective (read : budget) stuff so we're putting the better homes and gardens blinds from Walmart on all our windows. Is there a similar cost effective add on to operate these blinds "automagically"? I found this but $140 a pop seems a bit much. https://www.tiltsmarthome.com/products/mysmartblinds-automation-kit [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 May 2021 02:27 PM PDT I've got home assistant running on my (Ubuntu) server downstairs and would like a temp sensor to monitor my son's room upstairs across the house). Can someone recommend a good, inexpensive solution? If I use zigbee, can I just get a dongle to plug into my server? [link] [comments]
On/Off Smart Switch for no-neutral Florescent light bay Posted: 21 May 2021 05:52 PM PDT I have 6 different switches in my shop to control about 30 4-bulb florescent ballasts. Im looking for smart switch to replace these ON/OFF switches so i dont have to walk down the length of my shop to turn all the lights on. Requirements are : 300 watts, no neutral, zwave, florescent tube compatible, 100ft distance or more. I havent been able to find a reliable solution, not sure if one exists. Home energy monitor that stores data locally, temporarily Posted: 21 May 2021 04:54 AM PDT I bought the emporia vue 2, installed it on one of the two main panels, and have really liked it so far. Except it doesn't work if internet goes down. I wish it could store data and then upload upon reconnection. Internet service isn't very reliable in my area, so it does happen often. Is there another product on the market that can do that with individual circuit monitoring and solar production tracking? Maybe the Leviton smart load center panel with breakers, but that's a little pricey, especially with 400 amp service/two 200 amp panels. I almost went with the sense but would have had to buy two to get solar monitoring and two panels, and they're a bit more than the vue and are slow to identify loads. [link] [comments]
Smart Switches - Beginner Question Posted: 21 May 2021 11:42 AM PDT Hello everybody! I'm a new homeowner and I've been having a lot of fun setting up lights and all my technology to be automated. I'm starting to delve into the world of smart switches, and I'm a tiny bit confused. I have a series of plates that have two switches on them. One controls the fan and one controls the lights. Ideally, I'd like to replace the switches with a Wifi switch that I can control with HomeKit and Alexa. I've looked online and I'm confused what to get. Do I need two separate switches for each plate? Or is there a switch that I can buy that will control both the fan and the light (ideal solution)? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. To stay with Hubitat or go to Homey Posted: 21 May 2021 05:03 AM PDT Okay here's this thing, putting it bluntly I have a Hubitat that have set up and never used or set everything else up. So we live in Australia and seems harder to get home automation things and when I find things they are so expensive. We have a lot of Wifi home automation this that are different brands but use the Tuya based system. This includes lights, sockets, camera, diffusers, mosquito traps and Dehumidifiers. Also have a Sensibo air conditioning controller and google home speakers and hub. Now I like the idea of being able to keep them but my partner hates all these things that doesn't have a hub and a few control panels (because google never listens). I was able to convince him that getting a hub and going to ZigBee or Zwave products would be good, seeing as he wants to automate the greenhouse to open windows, water the plants or turn on fans and so on. So I got a Hubitat and yeah tried a little and couldn't work out the wifi products to the hub and on the dashboard after more research it doesn't seem to work. Which yeah okay I understand why it doesn't. In saying this I'd like to slowly change them all out seeing as they don't work but my problem is can I still control this all away from home if I stay with Hubitat and if so what products can I get that are cheaper and works in AU. Or would Homey be a better option for me. Now before you ask Home Assistant isn't for me, tried for days and hours but I got too obsessive and well let's just say If I kept going there wouldn't be a home to continue with as my partner, well he didn't like not getting the attention. 😂 Oh and when I had the Hubitat connected it seems to interfere with my modem which is the TP-Link Archer 6000 (WiFi 6) would make it drop out or say no connection when it was. Did totally weird things to it. Any help and advice would be great thank you. Also I can tinker slightly but not very skilled atm with it and really just need the easiest way possible. Here is what we want summed up if it helps. Local Smart hub with the option to control away from home, We want to have a good security system including cameras and locks as we live in a rural area. He wants to be able to have control and automation within a greenhouse. I want smart lighting and switches with automations depending on time of day and as we both work shiftwork (nurses) say alarms go off and be able to have the lights come on to wake us when it's dark outside still. If that helps.. Thanks again. Any advice or suggestions please feel free to say. Thank you again. [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 May 2021 12:00 PM PDT Can someone with experience using security cameras maybe point me in the right direction please? I'm fairly knowledgeable tech-wise...but when it comes to cameras and home security setups..I just never had the experience. I was looking for something simple..not too expensive (sub £100, maybe even around £50 if possible), me and my fiancée want to record our sleeping patterns overnight. At first I thought standard IP Camera with night vision..connected with your 12v adapter and RJ-45 connector to Ethernet..hook that up to the network (local only), and set up recording to my PC which has already over 8TB of storage off of different drives. Any idea on the best way to approach this? I would like half decent quality for the £50 range (camera only) but I understand I'm not gonna get amazing quality for that price...I just don't want to get stuck with a cheap £20 camera being sold for £50+ if you know what I mean. Anyone have any suggestions/advice/tips/things to look out for. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 May 2021 11:56 AM PDT When I press the SCHLAGE button it doesn't automatically lock and it unlocks the door without entering the code. Opposite to what it is supposed to do. Also the deadbolt is difficult to turn the first turn tho lock it manually then moves smoothly. Can someone help? [link] [comments]
Zigbee smart plu with open API Posted: 21 May 2021 06:34 AM PDT Hello, In a collaboration project with a dutch IoT company (Let Things Talk) we are looking for smart plugs that are able to connect with our own hub that controls our smart home sensors. These sensors work based on the MQTT protocol. The preferd communication between the hub and smart plug is Zigbee. For this we will be needing an open API for this smart plug. I have read a previous post about this topic that was posted about 2 years ago with almost the same question, only this person didn't prefer a Zigbee smart plug. We contacted several companies such as: Niko nv, innr, WOOX. All of those we contacted are not willing to provide an open API. My question is if somebody knows a company that will provide us with an open API and use the Zigbee protocol. Any suggestions are very much welcome :). [link] [comments]

Posted: 21 May 2021 08:51 AM PDT We bought under bed lights with motion sensors a few years ago and both have stopped working. I'm trying to decide on a replacement and if another set would be best or a smarter solution. Basically I want if either of us steps out of bed at night an led strip lights up so we can see to the bathroom and back. Any suggestions? [link] [comments]
