What is the white label factory that produces the cameras, bulbs, plugs for xiaomi, wyze etc?

    Posted: 11 May 2020 04:53 PM PDT

I'm starting to see a lot of bulbs or cameras sold under different labels now that has the same form factor and I'm wondering who the factory is that is licensing the cameras out as I do have a couple wyze stuff and it would be nice to see what are some potential upcoming wyze products.

I believe it might start with hua or something as when I was trying to register my wyze account the first time on the app, it tried to sign me up on ouath.hua...something.com. But it might be something else.

"Zzh!" (short for "Zig-a-zig-ah!") open-source hardware licensed Zigbee USB-stick based on TI CC2652R

    Posted: 12 May 2020 01:09 AM PDT

Open-source hardware licensed "Zzh!" (short for "Zig-a-zig-ah!") Zigbee USB-stick/dongle/adapter by Electrolama is now available for via Tindie.

Based on the Texas Instruments CC2652R chip this can be seen as a much more powerful radio and Zigbee 3.0 capable MCU replacement for the popular CC2530 and CC2531 Zigbee coordinator USB-sticks/dongles/adapters.

More detailed information is available on the project page at Electrolama:

Zzh! (Zig-a-zig-ah!) design is released as open-source hardware licensed under the Solderpad Hardware License 2.0 with its PCB schematic source files available in EAGLE format on GitHub.

Texas Instruments Z-Stack 3.x Zigbee 3.0 coordinator firmware available for it should make it compatible with the Zigbee2mqtt gateway with Home Assistant on its own (as well as with other home automation software such as IoBroker, Domoticz, and OpenHAB),

There is also support for it in the native ZHA integration built-into Home Assistant (which is compatible with many different Zigbee adapters from multiple manufacturers, without Zigbee2mqtt).

It should, however, be noted that while both Zigbee2mqtt and the ZHA integration in Home Assistant can be generally be considered stable, the newly added support for this and other types of Texas Instrument CC chip-based Zigbee adapters is still experimental thus not yet stable so I would only recommend these dongles with ZHA to developers wanting to help or experiment right now.

PS: I have no affiliations with this product or any of its manufacturers/parts.

Input on Yale Assure Lock Touchscreen vs Yale Assure Lock SL

    Posted: 11 May 2020 02:21 PM PDT

I am looking to get a smartlock for the door and after some research I have found a lot of support for the Yale smart locks.

I have found an overwhelming amount of comparisons and reviews in big support of the Assure Lock SL. However, I am finding almost nothing to support the Assure Lock Touchscreen - and even one article went so far to say they love the SL and would not recommend the Touchscreen.

As far as I can tell, the only different is the Touchscreen offers a Key option and the SL doesn't. I am not confident I want to go without the key option, but am undecided.

I am more curious if anyone has experience with the Touchscreen (with key option)? As it seems like the ideal choice for me, but I can't find much support for it specifically, and the lack of that honestly confuses my decision.

In case anyone is wondering and it matter for their reply, I run Smartthings and Google Homes. Thank you.

    Smart Ecosystem new house

    Posted: 11 May 2020 10:48 PM PDT

    Hi guys!

I will move soon in a new house that includes a wired Home Automatisation System (just for lights control) : https://www.bticino.com/products-catalogue/myhome_up-simple-home-automation-system/

Before finding out that the house will include this System, i was planning to install a Fibaro ecosystem on it with a Fibaro HomeCenter.

My question now is: There's any chance to include this Home automatisation system in a future maybe Fibaro ecosystem? Thank you!

PS: I'm still a noob, i'm sorry if the answer to this question is somehow obvious and i don't get it

Can multiple 1-Wire-compatible sensors connect to a single input pin?

    Posted: 11 May 2020 09:58 PM PDT

As 1-Wire sensors have an address, I wondered if multiple sensors can all be connected to the same pin on a processor to read the input? I am connecting an AM2301 and a DS18B20 up to an ESP8285, and wonder if both can be on the same input pin.

Does anyone know if Eaton/Cooper Aspire Z-Wave switches/outlets need some sort of proprietary device to set up?

    Posted: 11 May 2020 09:27 PM PDT

I purchased some used Eaton/Cooper aspire switches and outlets recently: RF9517 RF Accessory Switch RF9540-N RF Smart Dimmer Master RF9501 RF Single Pole Switch RF9542-Z RF Smart Dimmer Accessory RFTR9505-T RF TR Split Control Duplex Receptacle

I thought I could just toss them onto my z-wave network (Homeseer controller) with instruction that I could find online. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find any detailed manuals. I just found this for one of the switches: https://images.homedepot-static.com/catalog/pdfImages/99/997cfba8-d15f-4c1c-9132-2ccbf67e619a.pdf Which basically says "For detailed programming instructions for your switch, refer to the ASPIRE RF manual that is included with the Handheld (RFHDCSG) or Table Top (RFTDCSG) Controller." I can't find much info on those controllers except where to purchase them.

I did find another manual for a similar Aspire switch that stated: "Please reference the Instruction Sheet included with the product for wiring installation. For programming of the device, see the Aspire RF User Manual, which is provided with either the handheld (RFHDCSG) or tabletop (RFTDCSG) controllers and are also accessible online at www.cooperwiringdevices.com/AspireRF" Of course, that link no longer exists so I think I've run out of options except to ask to see if anyone has any copies of manuals that might shed some light on how I can reset and program these devices to register on my Z-Wave network.

I've tried contacting Eaton directly a few weeks ago, but of course, trying to get a response from a company that large for support on a product that is probably too old makes me feel like I'm screaming into the void.

    Thanks.

    Smart Bulb Gift Recommendation

    Posted: 11 May 2020 07:54 PM PDT

I'm looking to give a friend of my a Smart Light Bulb for his birthday. The other day we saw the Philips Hue and he seemed to really like them, so I want to give him something like that, but the Hue require a bridge and purchasing just one might not make too much sense.

    Things I'm looking for:

    • Budget: ~40 USD
    • Music Synchronization.
    • Trustworthy (i.e. will last, are easy to setup).
    • Work by themselves (I'll just be buying one).

    Wifi Enabled Smoke Detector

    Posted: 11 May 2020 09:18 AM PDT

I've just built a shed that I intend to use as a home office. It had power and will soon have AC and heat. I'd like a smoke detector but I want one that will notify me if it's tripped since I may not hear it when I am in the house.

I've looked into wifi smoke detectors and from my googling, it seems Nest is the only one that's worth considering. So, I am wondering if their are others? Do the major smoke detector brands have any wifi smoke detectors worth considering? I'm willing to spend the money for the Nest, but if there is another brand just as good for less, I'd consider it to save money.

Z-wave motion sensor + alarm recommendations?

    Posted: 11 May 2020 07:14 PM PDT

    Hi all,

I am fairly new to home automation but have started planning/setting up my system. I have exterior cameras that I have recording onto a local NVR w/ motion detection alerts 24/7. I am trying to set up some interior motion sensors that would set off an interior noise alarm, preferably something I can set up in homeseer to alarm when it detects we are no longer home based on our phone locations or that I can arm myself manually through my phone when leaving. Anyone do anything like this or have any recommendations? Thank you!

Looking to automate monthly water heater flushes

    Posted: 11 May 2020 06:38 PM PDT

Anybody have experience with automating monthly water heater flushes? I would presume a NC solenoid valve open for a few minutes could be done w\an Arduino. Maybe tie it to a float switch in the nearby sump to prevent flooding out the basement?

    Thoughts?

Smart power strip? 6 gang and 8 gang? (UK)

    Posted: 11 May 2020 12:22 PM PDT

    Hi,

I have smart plugs however they don't exactly fit onto power strips so nicely, so was looking at smart power strips if possible?

I've seen smart strips that have four gang sockets but not six gangs or eight gangs :(

Does anyone know where I may be able to buy six / eight gang strips?

Am I going to be able to use a smart thermostat? Do I need to ask for an HVAC tech and/or electrician?

    Posted: 11 May 2020 05:48 PM PDT

My friends bought me a Hive thermostat a couple years ago and I'm finally making a real push at installing it, but I don't know if it is even possible given the wiring situation in my house. My house is a split level built in the 1960s, and sometime from construction until it passed into my possession

    • a security system was haphazardly installed and the wires left everywhere
    • an electric outlet was cut off and left dangling
    • a range outlet (probably from above) was installed in my vestibule, with the ground connected to the neutral wire and an electric dryer plugged into that. (we also did this, not realizing the problem until recently)
    • a single RJ45 cover, without a box, was screwed in at a ~75 degree angle, and connected to a wire using a cable with only ~2 twisted pairs that lead into a tube by my breaker box to the outside and somewhere.

So I'm a little spooked to start with. I have separate AC and baseboard heating. My furnace is a rat's nest of cables with 5 terminals: Y G W C R Album reference which are in turn connected to

I also have the AC theromostat wiring and a couple other reference shots in the album.

Lutron Caseta vs Lutron Pro Bridge (just newly migrating to HA from wink)

    Posted: 11 May 2020 05:14 PM PDT

In the process of migrating my set up over to Home Assistant and have about 8-10 Lutron switches/dimmers that I never required a hub for previously as wink was able to pair with them. I purchased the regular Caseta hub and have linked it into HA successfully and so its working well thus far today. Is there any reason to get the pro hub for an additional $40-50 over the regular Caseta hub?

Recommendation for video surveillance system that does not require wifi?

    Posted: 11 May 2020 12:54 PM PDT

I don't have WiFi at my house and don't plan on having it anytime soon. Is there anything that hooks up to a hard drive and would store 24-72 hours of video.

Mi/Yeelight RGB Bulbs - Music Flow in Group?

    Posted: 11 May 2020 12:38 PM PDT

Hey guys, first post in the sub. I have just started automating my lights. I liked them because for only $20 each they are way cheaper than other brands. My question is I mainly bought them for music flow or music syncing, and that is the one thing that is a bit cumbersome to achieve. I pretty much have to go into each bulb and activate it. one at a time, every single time.

For yall that have that bulb do you know any better way to just click a button and have them sync with music? for faster music syncing

    Thank You

I would like to change the lights to those holidays. Any ideas or names of brands?? I would prefer string lights as they are brighter and easier to install

Dimmable LEDs that dont buzz ?

    Posted: 11 May 2020 12:15 PM PDT

wondering what people have out there for a Dimmer (zwave) + LED bulb combination that doesn't buzz.

I have FUBAR-ed myself by purchasing a bunch of philips bulbs before testing based on internet reviews of philips not buzzing. got my bulbs, swapped out some, turned on a dimmer, and shit. the buzzing was louder than my last "loud" bulbs.

    for reference, i got these:
    https://www.bulbs.com/product/8-8A19-PER-950-P-E26-DIM-6-1FB-T20

    https://www.bulbs.com/product/16A21-PER-950-P-E26-DIM-6-1FB-T20

it's not easy to find a 90CRI 5000k LED's that are dimmable (I prefer daylight bulbs).

I do realize which dimmer also makes a difference. So far i've only tested with the homeseer 200+ dimmer, and the inovelli dimmer. the HS one is super buzzed, but good at 100%. the inovelli buzzes even when at 100%. I also have a zooz dimmer i'll try in a bit.

Would love to hear if you've found a combination that works without the buzz, expecially a 5k bulb.

while browsing some threads, i also came across these:
    [https://ldsdimming.com/products/lds-load-stabilizer-sample-pack?variant=43116935374](http://LED Dimming Solutions)

anyone ever used something like that, have experience ?
