Automatic shower temperature timer? Posted: 28 Jun 2020 10:38 PM PDT Wondering if a product exists for my use case: I like to start off with a warm shower, and slowly turn it cold. Is there something that could automatically mix the water and over ~5 minutes reach a reliable cold temperature? I wouldn't want full cold, so I'm guessing it would need some sort of thermostat control [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Jun 2020 10:09 PM PDT I recently picked up a Nest Secure home security system. I know it's not the greatest, but it was cheap and does what I need it to do. I'm not a big fan, though, of the fact that there are no wall mount options. I figured there had to be some third-party options, but I'm coming up dry. When I first started Googling for it, I came across this YT video that seemed promising. Unfortunately, that thing isn't for sale anywhere anymore. The manufacturer's own website links to an amazon page of a discontinued product. I found this Amazon listing that sells them out of Singapore, but they don't ship to the US and, even if they did, I wouldn't buy them at s$85 (about $60 US). Anyone happen to know where I can find a solution for this? I'm not opposed to DIY. If I don't get any ideas here, I may just roam Lowe's and try to figure something out with PVC or something. Switch/remote for feit color bulbs Posted: 28 Jun 2020 09:27 PM PDT I have a room with a pair of Feit color changing smart bulbs. I would like to install a switch or remote (like the caseta remotes) to turn them on/off. Currently I can only turn them on /off using the app or Google home (linked). If I turn them off using the wired switch, then they are just off. I would like to hard wire them on and put a remote in front of the switch plate. Such a thing exist, or is it possible to use one of my caseta remotes to make Google home turn them on or off? [link] [comments]

Recommendation on apartment door/window monitoring Posted: 28 Jun 2020 07:56 PM PDT Hi all! Moving into an apartment and looking to set up a door/few window sensors. I have a few pi3B sitting around, but nothing else, so any recommendations on what else would be needed to set this up would be great. [link] [comments]
Help separating bathroom fan from bathroom light Posted: 28 Jun 2020 01:43 PM PDT Hi, i have a single bathroom switch which turns on a light and exhaust fan. There is only one wire leading to the receptacle so the light and fan are joined to the same ciircuit somewhere in my ceiling. i have a number of tasmota switches and use home assistant extensively already. I was thinking about getting a sonoff mini, pulling the fan down and connecting the sonoff mini (flashed with tasmota) to just the fan somewhere in the ceiling. i was hoping this would let me control the fan separately such that the light could be on by itself or the light could be on at the same time with the fan, for example, depending on how much time I spend i the bathroom... Does this seem like a reasonable idea? Can anyone suggest something that might be more effective? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Jun 2020 07:28 AM PDT I was recently playing with googles new computer vision models and they've been pretty good at identifying faces and hands. I was curious if anyone has successfully adapted any such computer vision models for use in home automation? [link] [comments]
How to change 4-gang switch software Posted: 28 Jun 2020 01:10 PM PDT Maybe someone knows is it possible to change program in 4-gang wi-fi wall glass switch? I want to use this switch to blind control - one switch can control two blinds. I must protect the motors in blinds by simultaneously pressing two buttons - so i need to change software (it must be possible to press one button(up or down) [link] [comments]

Somfy Ultra28/30 Charger Light Colors Posted: 28 Jun 2020 09:18 AM PDT Does ANYONE know if the damn Somfy Charger I light eve changes from green orange or red...or if there is ANY WAY to tell if these rollers are Fully Charged? [link] [comments]
Are there wifi switches for the fixture end instead of the wall end? Posted: 28 Jun 2020 08:00 AM PDT With the switches I've seen (sonoff) the expectation is it will be located in the box with the light switch. It seems like there is more room where the light wiring connects to the fixture. Aside from just getting smart lightbulbs ($$$) are there good options? I'm running HA but will be switching to a hub in the future. [link] [comments]
This might be like a stupid question, but I'm at a loss, I just want a radio-controller light switch Posted: 28 Jun 2020 06:38 AM PDT What should I buy, and can I use a cheap single-board computer such as NanoPi NEO2? It has Ubuntu LTS installed by default. I also want to avoid drilling the wall, and having to install separate power lines that go to light fixture/circuit breaker. I'm also not interested in battery powered wireless switches. I saw this ad by GE of their 12722: GE Z-Wave In-Wall Smart Switch, and it looks like what I need, except I don't want to use their program, and I want to be able to sync the switch with my own single-board computer, which will have a running server that I can access to myself and control various light switches in the house. On their website, they say it requires a smart hub, so I guess I can't use GE 12722 with NanoPi computer. [link] [comments]
Caseta lights flashing - all rooms Posted: 28 Jun 2020 06:22 AM PDT Hi all, I have multiple caseta switches and, seemingly at random, ALL of my lights start strobing on a slow blink. If this were one room or one switch at a time I'd blame the bulbs and say maybe it's a voltage issue but it's about 7 switches simultaneously in two different rooms. Wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue. TIA [link] [comments]
Looking to link two light switches Posted: 28 Jun 2020 05:11 AM PDT Hi all, I'm hoping for a recommendation to solve my problem. I have two sets of lights right next to each other but on different circuits. One set of lights is controlled by a light switch hidden in a terrible location, and I'm hoping to tie that set to my other switch (wirelessly). In my old house I had a lot of Insteon light switches, and I can go down that route again, but was curious if anyone else had some recommendations. Ideally I'm looking for:
