Home Assistant: Wait for trigger to do something; otherwise do something else Posted: 04 Dec 2020 03:23 AM PST Let me see if I understand how Wait for trigger works in Home Assistant. Example: Wait for trigger, 2 seconds timeout without continuing on timeout. The trigger is an input_select going to a certain state. If that happens during those 2 seconds, the following action will be triggered. If nothing happens during those 2 actions, everything will end there (nothing will happen). Is this correct? However, what I'd like to achieve is action A (play an audio) or action B, depending on whether or not something happened during those 2 seconds. More specifically: I want a timeout of 2 seconds. If nothing happens during those 2 seconds, I want to play an audio with Modipy (I finally got it working). However, if during those 2 seconds an input_select goes to a certain state, I want to do another action. [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Dec 2020 05:25 AM PST I am looking for an led panel that i can mount flush with my dry-wall ceiling. Best case would be a wall mountable (in-wall or surface-mounted) control panel, but could also work with a remote. It should obviously have the potential to be connected to a homeassistance automation. Preferably i may order from somewhere in Europe. Size should be either 0,5mx0,5m or 1mx0,5m. Color is an added bonus, but dimmed light and light temperature should be available. Thanks for any suggestions! [link] [comments]
Mihome automation with shared devices Posted: 04 Dec 2020 05:09 AM PST Hello everyone. I have a bunch of Xiaomi and Aqara sensors and switches that i manage in the Mihome App. Unfortunatly 3 of the ching mi power strips cant be connected to my european account (6xxxxxxxxx) with chinese mainland server and need a chinese account. A chinese account start with a number less than 42xxxxxxxx. To use the strips i created a new chinese account and shared the devices with my other account. The problem is, i cant use those strips with my aqara wall switches cuz they are not listen as "my" devices... Also automation like time trigger is not possible... And today i looked into my account and those shared devices are completly gone... -.- But i can share a whole home to access those strips.. Its just a mess... Anyone is having an idea to any of my problems? How to get the strips into my main not chinese account. or how to make automation with shared devices? Thanks in advance to anyone who read this ^^ [link] [comments]
Home Assistant 1.0 (1.0.0) to be released before Christmas this year? Posted: 03 Dec 2020 02:19 AM PST Yesterday the developers of Home Assistant project has tagged the core project as "1.0.0b0" (pre-release version 1.0.0 Beta 0) on GitHub as well as created a draft placeholder news/blog post for Home Assistant 1.0 Beta release notes: https://rc.home-assistant.io/blog/2020/12/02/release-10/ https://github.com/home-assistant/core/releases/tag/1.0.0b0 Home Assistant Conference is planned for 13 December 2020 and the official announcement is expected then so we might assume that Home Assistant 1.0.0 final will finally be released before Christmas this year? https://www.home-assistant.io/conference Home Assistant was first release 7-years ago and is today maybe the worlds most popular open-source home automation software (based on the fact that it made the Top-10 list of the most active projects on GitHub last year for the first time as announced at "State of the Octoverse" 2019, and now in 2020 it came in second place in the list of Python packages with most unique contributors). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home_Assistant Will this 1.0.0 release now make you want to try Home Assistant if you are not already using it today? Posted: 04 Dec 2020 02:58 AM PST not sure if this is the best place to ask or not but...I have two computers and 3 monitors, one PC for fun and one that my work gave me. I was wondering if there was a way of easily switching between computers so after I finish my work day at home I can just use my PC and not fumble around with any wires. Any help would be great [link] [comments]
How to register when a door is opened? Posted: 04 Dec 2020 02:09 AM PST For an older family member, I would like to be able to see on my smartphone when a certain door was last opened and receive an alert if a door wasn't opened for a long time. E.g. if the toilet door wasn't opened for 12 hours, this would indicate something is wrong. How would I go about this? There isn't any home automation in that house yet, but there is WiFi available. Need help setting up a feit electric smart bulb Posted: 03 Dec 2020 10:44 PM PST So pretty much a while back on prime day i ordered a smart bulb echo dot bundle for 18$. The bulb came ASAP but the echo had just come today. First thing I noticed was that on amazon it said I was supposed to receive a Sengled bulb but instead the one I have has Feit electric on it. I have been trying to pair it for hours now, doing every single on/off combo i can find on the internet to reset it. I'm also on a 2.4ghz network. Feit's youtube and website are zero help I just cannot get it to start blinking and go into pairing mode. Everytime I do a combo to reset it it just doesn't blink and stays solid on. Help? Recommend clicky/tactile smart button/switch. Posted: 03 Dec 2020 09:45 PM PST I ordered a few of the Sengled Smart Light Switches and have found that the buttons are really mushy and it can be unreliable to quickly turn on/off lights when I walk into a room and just whack my hand against the switch. I'm looking for something compatible with Hubitat that has a solid reliable on/off click to it. Even just a button to toggle the lights would be fine. Currently I'm mounting the light switch with magnets as described in this article, so something compatible with this would be nice! [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Dec 2020 09:03 PM PST I am looking for some suggestions to control my Zwave devices and Konnected alarm. I have been running Smartthings over the past couple years with decent success but I got sick of their outages and the lag from being cloud based. I heard about Hubitat and bought one. Things are really fast but wow, it's young and full of bugs. Great idea and I hope they succeed but it's just not ready yet. I can't even run a zwave repair without the whole system choking. It's just not stable enough yet. We are mainly use iOS and Mac OS and have a few Apple TV's, plus a MacBook Pro that I use as a server. I also have a Synology DS1618+ that I could use for something if needed. I also have two iPads on the walls that I used to use ActionTiles on so I'll need something for those. I'm willing to pay for stuff if it works. I just don't think Smartthings is fast enough and has outages. Hubitat is just too young and basic functionality is broken. What does everyone use that you think may work for me? I heard one mention of HomeBridge and HomeAssistant maybe? [link] [comments]
Powering all the hubs and stuff with a tidier, less spaghetti solution? Posted: 03 Dec 2020 05:38 AM PST How can I power all my devices in a tidier way? I have a network switch, Hue hub and SmartThings hub that all have barrel plugs, three Pi's that take USB micro B and a Google WiFi that's USB-C. Currently that's 7 power adapters and a spaghetti of cables (especially as all but one device also has ethernet). Is there a way to consolidate these? Are there multi output power adapters that do barrel and USB? [link] [comments]

Any non-cloud thermostat with a good WAF? Posted: 03 Dec 2020 12:29 PM PST I have 2 thermostats at home (a CT-32 and a Lyric T6) and want to replace them. Currently using zwave but i'm open to any protocol (compatible with Homeseer), as long as its networking is 100% local only. (Not going out of the local lan at all) My biggest issue is that everything I find is so damn ugly! Most of them would look at home in the console of the NCC-1701, not bloody A,B,C or D. What is people around here using? [link] [comments]
What is a good smart plug that can withstand outdoors? Posted: 03 Dec 2020 02:59 PM PST Hi all. I would like to know what would be a good smart plug for the outdoors that can withstand harsh snowy winters. I have an extension cord connected to the outdoor outlet which is connected to my LED reindeers. Instead of having to go outside and turn them on every time, that's where the smart plug would come in. I'm also debating on getting a cover or some sort of case to protect the smart plug. I've used the aukey smart plug but it quickly stopped working after 2 weeks. The amazon smart plug I believe isn't suited for the outdoors. Any feedback is appreciated thank you! Is there any way to add a widget on my phone to control my smart lights? Posted: 03 Dec 2020 05:39 AM PST I just finished setting up my room with wipro smart lights and an echo dot. Whenever I need to turn on/off the lights I either have to call out to alexa or open the Google home app. Is there any way I can get this functionality in a widget? [link] [comments]
Neato D4 (BNIB, 260 USD) vs. Deebot 900 (Refurb, 160 USD)? Posted: 03 Dec 2020 02:14 PM PST I am living in Canada, and caught the last-minute deal of Neato D4, brand-new, for 260 USD. The delivery is scheduled right after the Christmas. Meanwhile I found a deal on Buydig which sells the refurbished Deebot 900 for 160 USD.
Based on the description above, is Neato D4 worth extra 100 bucks over Deebot 900? [link] [comments]
I need assistance with "smart" Toaster Ovens/Air Fryers, what are my options, are they worth it? Posted: 03 Dec 2020 02:10 PM PST Hello All, I'm new here, I recently just closed on my first home, and I figured I would all in on Google Assistance compatible smart devices. I've got a good base of knowledge on lights, TVs and other traditional tech. However I'm not that well versed on "smart" kitchen appliances and if they have value. Right now of traditional Air Fryer/Toaster Ovens, I'm looking at the Ninja Foodi. However Cosori has this one and its actually google assistant supported, which is kinda cool. Are there other brands that have similar products available, because I haven't found any, and for anyone who has either of these products, I'd love to hear some feedback on what you thought of them. Thanks [link] [comments]

My post keeps getting automatically deleted by moderators and im not sure why. Posted: 03 Dec 2020 01:40 PM PST The title was "Yeelight too bright at 1%, anything better?" The post I am trying to ask advice about is this. I get a lot of migraines so I replaced all of our lightbulbs with Yeelights which has been a big help with reducing the pain i get from bright lights in our home. Unfortunately, the light is still way too bright for me at 1%. Everyone always compares the bulbs at 100% so I dont know if there are better options that have a propper 1%. I tried joining the Discord link but it doesnt take me to the Homeautomation Discord. I read the rules on the sidebar but still cant figure out what im doing to get my post deleted. Smart plug suddenly triggering my GFCI outlets. Posted: 03 Dec 2020 01:12 PM PST Hi all, I plugged my " Kasa Smart KP303 Plug Power Strip" into my GFCI and while it used to work before, it now trips the GFCI. I have tested other things on the outlet like a burner plate and a different surge protector and those work fine, so I'm really confused. I even replaced some of my breakers that were connected and it was no use. I am not an electrician. Sorry. [link] [comments] |
